When setting up your own hotspot, you might wonder what security concerns there are that you should be aware of. There are two kinds of hotspots: secure and open. An open hotspot allows any person with a wireless-enabled computer to access the Internet and any other allowed networks. A secure hotspot either only lets authorized computers access the network or requires a password from users attempting to get onto the network. When you set up your own hotspot you have the option of making your hotspot secure or open. Networks can be a combination of the two, as you can allow anyone to use the Internet through your connection but block them from accessing a network of computers you might have set up.
